Our family of four (ages 18 to 44) did the Mambo Combo, and we loved every second. Our guides—Gustavo, Roy, Jilvin, and Jacomo to name just a few—did a fantastic job. They were knowledgeable, professional, and entertaining. We always felt safe in their competent hands. This was one of our favorite experiences in Costa Rica. We would definitely do it again!

The Mambo Combo was recommended to us and it did not disappoint!!! The four of us (ages 51, 46, and two 15 year old girls) ALL had a blast. Our guides were terrific - professional and playful. They kept us laughing and made even challenging parts of the day seem safe and manageable.

Absolutely my favorite tour that we did with Desafio! We were picked up by the friendliest guide who brought us up to the canyoning area where we met our canyoning guides - Julio, Junior & Brother. We were the only two for the early morning adventure (which I recommend, it makes it even more epic) and basically got a private tour of the waterfalls and jungle. The guys were awesome, they pointed out wildlife to us and took their time in explaining technique and form and making sure we were comfortable. After canyoning, we sat down to a lovely breakfast and were able to watch a slide show of our pictures that Junior took. It was a great way to start the morning and we had a blast. Note: you will absolutely get completed soaked on this trip.
Once we finished breakfast, we were driven over to our new tour guides for white water rafting - Mey, Filipe & Luis. Mey & Filipe were with us for the remainder of the day as they actually came on the rafts with us while Luis was a our drive. All three of them absolutely made the day completely epic - I'm pretty sure we got the best tour guides of the group. Mey was our guide in the raft and he was extremely knowledgeable about the activity and also very safe. He wanted us to really learn how to raft and went out of his way to teach us the proper way to do it. He also took a lot of time to point out wildlife and stopped to let us arrange ourselves after particularly large rapids. Filipe was also with the group but not directly in our boat but he was ridiculously fun and friendly - we had a great time joking around with him from the moment we got into the van to the end of the tour. In the middle of rafting, we all pulled to the side of the river bank and enjoyed fresh fruit displayed on one of the rafts and then proceeded to mosey down the river. After we finished rafting, the guys brought us to a lovely homemade lunch where we ate our way through a massive plate of beef casada that melted in your mouth. But, really, the highlight of the tour were the people we were with who

We just got back from Costa Rica and went on the Mambo Combo tour on our second to last day there. It was PHENOMENAL. My husband and I are pretty adventurous and have done a lot of things from Sea-trekking to Ziplining to Parasailing, etc. but the Canyoneering/Rappelling experience was simply awesome! Probably my favorite thing I've ever done. It's a mix between rappelling, climbing down rocks, and flat out "hiking" through the river. Whitewater Rafting was also a blast, and we had a great trip down the Balsa River with Jordan. Jorge was another one of our guides on the whitewater rafting part, and he was great, too. All in all, this was probably the best tour on our whole trip, and we had a pretty amazing trip altogether. We also added a hot springs "tour" to this day, so the guides/bus driver were accommodating and dropped us off at the hot spring on the way back to the hotels rather than going back for another transport; it made for a nice top-off to our long, exerting day! I would HIGHLY recommend Desafio tours and will most definitely be using them whenever I go back to Costa Rica ! :)

We did 5 tours in Costa Rica, and the Desafio Mambo Combo Rappel + Raft tour was by far the most fun. All of the guides were super enthusiastic and funny. The activities were exciting and fun while also being a great way to experience the Costa Rican landscape. They also feed you, and the food is amazing. Would highly recommend this tour!
Side note: Hérnan was the best guide ever!!! He was super energetic, informative, and hilarious. It made our white water rafting trip exponentially more fun than it would have been otherwise. Muchas gracias!
