Arenal Hanging Bridges Walking Tour
Walk through the Arenal Rainforest Canopy
The Arenal Hanging Bridges
The Arenal Hanging Bridges at Mistico Park is abeautiful, environmentally-friendly nature project located near the Arenal Volcano for walking tours. If you are wondering where to see the Costa Rica rainforest, this is a perfect hiking and walking activity for families with young children because there is always plenty to see and you can pick and choose the walking trails you'd like to hike in the Costa Rica rainforest.
One of our professionally-trained, bilingual naturalist guides will pick you up in your hotel and drive to one of the best view points of the Arenal Volcano high a top a hill across the valley from the iconic volcano. There are trails and bridges that bring you as close as you could ever hope to get to the birds, flowers, and the lush vegetation of this primary rainforest. This is the perfect tour for nature enthusiasts visiting Costa Rica!
The trails are designed for all ability levels and cover a total of about 2 miles. Once you are on walking along, you will be able to admire the great diversity of flora and fauna typically found in the tropical rain forest and also have the opportunity to see may different bird and plant species. Walk right into the forest along several stretches of hanging bridges overlooking the tree canopy along easy, safe and beautiful trails with views of the Arenal Volcano.
The last time I was at the hanging bridges at Mistico, I was astounded by the amount of bird life visible. An irridescent, bright green and blue-ish Torquoise-browed Motmot was less than two feet away along the base of the trail. I was able to snap some great shots. I was worried that our 6-year-old would tire of the walking, but she kept up the pace and marveled at the pit viper snake our guide pointed and splashed a bit in the waterfall at the bottom of one of the walking trails.
It is important to wear good footwear, such as closed-toe shoes like tennis shoes or hiking boots.
Bug repellent; camera; binoculars; closed-toe shoes such as tennis shoes or hiking boots; rain gear
It is possible to drive to the Mistico Park on your own, but taxis are about $30 each way. In addition, after paying the $24 entrance fee, you can also do the walking trails on your own, but we highly recommend the use of a guide as it makes the visit much more interesting as it is often difficult for the naked eye to spot creatures in the wild of the rainforest while hiking in Costa Rica.
NOTE: We have an extra transport charge for hotels outside of our normal pick-up

The bridges tour you set up was especially amazing - our guide Reuben deserves all the business you can give him. I just wanted to tell you we did the hanging bridges tour today. Our guide Reuben was absolutely fantastic. He was great showing the kids all the parts of the Forrest, explaining about Costa Rica and telling us how is being there was great for the country too. He was outstanding and wanted to let you know. Thank you!

Grossly overpriced as were most of the walking tours booked by our group whilst in La Fortuna! Think possibly our tour should have been cancelled due to the fact it was pouring down with rain meaning we only got to see two snakes! For I think 67 dollars we had a bus ride, excellent driver, good guide, clean transportation, two hours walking in the pouring rain, some fruit and a small drink,it was extremely poor value! We were never going to see any wild life in that amount of rain! Appreciate it is a rain forest and rain is what you get but not the heavy rain we experienced. In comparison the hot springs tour to I think it was called Los Lagos was excellent value 41 dollars and a very good dinner included! The hanging bridges should be priced at around 30 dollars in my opinion when compared with the springs! Maybe you should review your prices, felt ripped off with the walk!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a comment about the Hanging Bridges tour and that you thought the Los lagos excursion with dinner was a much better value.
One of our main goals as a tour operator is to provide services that exceed client expectations and that clients feel they received a good-valued tour. We are sorry we did not meet your expectations.
In some cases, we are unable to control some prices. For example, the Mistico Park where the hanging bridges are located is a private reserve and they charge a $26 entrance fee per person. The round trip transportation to and from La Fortuna to the Mistico Park (about 40 minutes each way), plus the nature guide salary and snacks all add up to the cost of the tour.
We often try to suggest clients do one of our COMBO tours such as the Hanging Bridges with a boat ride on Lake Arenal or mountain biking or Stand Up Paddling, etc. so we can help clients economize.
Again, we apologize and we do hope you come back to give us another try on one of the tours we operate directly such as rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, kayaking, etc. for a truly good-valued experience with us!
