La Fortuna, the major hub for restaurants and night life, has many different restaurants to choose from and most fall under one of three categories; fusion, sodas and international. There are many options to choose from when looking for a restaurant in La Fortuna. Most places serve local Tico fare, but each one is known for something special. Nene's Restaurant is known for their ceviche and fresh seafood dishes. This local place has amazing food, great prices and a friendly atmosphere. The location is not ideal as it is tucked into an alley, about a half a block northeast of Don Rufino and has a small parking lot in front. Don´t let yourself be turned off by the alley-type street and the ugly sign - the food is WORTH IT.
This classic La Fortuna establishment is 200 meters east of Parque Central and is adored by locals and tourists alike. It serves great portions for great prices, and if you're in the mood for fine dining, the seafood platters here can’t be beat, and the ceviche is as good as it gets. It's a laid back place with friendly and engaging waiters and comes highly recommended by all of the locals, which is how you know it's a great place. If you sit on the patio you'll have a clear view of the Arenal Volcano, great for photo opportunities, and its a great place to bring your loved one as the ambiance is romantic. You must have at least one meal here during your stay!
