Savor an early morning cup of Costa Rican coffee and a healthy breakfast before we head straight up into the mountains close to your hotel on a run that is considered "Expert." Climb to the highest point for one of the best views of the surrounding metropolitan area. We will be traveling and training about two hours (or 13 kilometers) in total to get ready for action-packed week in Costa Rica. You'll certainly be hungry after all of that, so now we take you to explore the colorful markets of the San José area to try local food and see a part of Costa Rican culture that few tourists ever get to experience. Enjoy one, final swim in the ocean or run on the beach before transferring on a very long drive back to San José for your flight home from the Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO). Flights should be scheduled for the afternoon the day of departure. Travelers should consider the 4.5-hour drive and 3-hour check-in before your scheduled flight home. It is even better if you can fly out of Liberia (LIR) to save on driving time or add a domestic flight from the small airport at Tamarindo to the San Jose area at an additional cost.

You'll be leaving Costa Rica feeling relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated! B

• Heart Rate Monitor (a device to monitor your heart, whether a watch or App attached to your phone is important - you may want just a basic stopwatch with no GPS so your battery will last longer. We like to use the SmartPhone Application SportsTracker w/ GPS so you get an idea of all aspects of your runs from altitude to distance to fitness level

• Headlamp

Things we recommend for your travel/medicine kit:
• Favorite anti-inflamatory (Ibuprofen) - although the brand Dorival is readily available in Costa Rica
